Role Overview:
The primary objective of this position is to assist Intelligence Analysts in pinpointing long-term strategic and emerging challenges within the region. The role also involves providing immediate tactical support for Counter Terrorism Policing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough evaluations of intelligence and information from both open and closed sources, utilizing various databases to formulate a comprehensive collection strategy that empowers Intelligence Analysts to generate precise intelligence assessments.
- Create detailed research summaries by leveraging all accessible intelligence to guide and focus efforts within the region.
- Adhere to strict deadlines while identifying and researching all pertinent data related to issues, patterns, trends, or threats, both regionally and nationally, for further analysis by the Intelligence Analyst.
- Follow directives set by the Intelligence Analyst to provide effective research capabilities aimed at identifying emerging risks and targeting offenders.
- Embrace a problem-solving approach to policing, supporting intelligence and analytical outputs that contribute to the development of interventions designed to significantly alter the regional risk landscape.
- Maintain proficiency with police computer systems and possess extensive knowledge of analytical IT solutions, including Geographic Information Systems, Database and Data Mining software, and statistical tools.
- Exhibit specialized and current knowledge of various data sources utilized by analysts in law enforcement, such as geographic, financial, ANPR, telecommunications, intelligence, and crime/incident data, while effectively assisting analytical colleagues with preliminary data processing and assessment.
- Identify intelligence deficiencies and aid officers in crafting and refining intelligence collection strategies.
- Prepare and present research findings in written form and deliver verbal presentations as required, either independently or in collaboration with the Intelligence Analyst.
- Coordinate with internal units, other regional forces, and the national coordination center to ensure the appropriate exchange of information and intelligence, adhering to all relevant legislation and policy.
- Design and execute research and evaluation projects, including conducting background research and developing an appropriate methodology, along with establishing Terms of Reference and milestones.
