Role Overview:

The position involves assisting Intelligence Analysts in pinpointing long-term strategic and emerging challenges within the region. The role includes providing immediate tactical support for Counter Terrorism Policing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough evaluations of intelligence and information from both open and restricted sources, utilizing various databases to create a comprehensive collection strategy that aids Intelligence Analysts in generating precise intelligence assessments.
  • Generate detailed research summaries by leveraging all accessible intelligence to guide and focus regional efforts.
  • Adhere to strict deadlines while identifying and researching relevant data concerning issues, patterns, trends, threats, risks, and harm at regional, national, and international levels, ensuring appropriate data is available for further analysis by Intelligence Analysts.
  • Follow directives from Intelligence Analysts to provide effective research capabilities that assist in recognizing emerging risks and targeting offenders.
  • Embrace problem-solving approaches to support intelligence and analytical outputs that contribute to the development of interventions aimed at significantly altering the regional risk landscape.
  • Maintain proficiency with police computer systems and possess extensive knowledge of analytical IT solutions, including Geographic Information Systems, Database and Data Mining software, and statistical analysis tools.
  • Exhibit specialized and current knowledge of various data sources utilized by analysts in law enforcement, such as geographic, financial, ANPR, telecommunications data, intelligence, and crime/incident data, while effectively assisting analytical colleagues in the preliminary processing and evaluation of this data.
  • Identify intelligence deficiencies and assist personnel in formulating and enhancing intelligence collection strategies.
  • Prepare and present research findings in written form and deliver verbal presentations as required, either independently or in collaboration with Intelligence Analysts.
  • Coordinate with internal units, other regional forces, and national coordination centers to ensure proper information and intelligence sharing, adhering to all relevant legislation and policies.
  • Design and execute research and evaluation projects, including conducting background research and developing and implementing suitable methodologies, including drafting Terms of Reference and establishing milestones.
