Role Overview:
The primary objective of this position is to assist Intelligence Analysts in pinpointing long-term strategic and emerging challenges within the region. This role also involves providing immediate tactical support for Counter Terrorism Policing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough evaluations of intelligence and information from both open and closed sources, utilizing various databases to create a comprehensive collection strategy that enables the production of precise intelligence assessments.
- Generate detailed research summaries by leveraging all accessible intelligence to guide and focus regional efforts.
- Work under strict deadlines to identify and analyze all relevant data concerning issues, patterns, trends, or threats, both regionally and nationally, for further examination by the Intelligence Analyst.
- Follow directives from the Intelligence Analyst to provide effective research capabilities that aid in recognizing emerging risks and targeting offenders.
- Embrace problem-solving methodologies aimed at supporting intelligence and analytical outputs that will contribute to the development of interventions designed to significantly alter the regional risk landscape.
- Maintain proficiency with police computer systems and possess extensive knowledge of analytical IT solutions, including Geographic Information Systems, database management, data mining software, and statistical analysis tools.
- Exhibit specialized and current knowledge of various data sources utilized by analysts in law enforcement, such as geographic, financial, ANPR, telecommunications, intelligence, and crime/incident data, while effectively assisting analytical colleagues in the preliminary processing and evaluation of this data.
- Identify intelligence deficiencies and assist officers in formulating and refining intelligence collection strategies.
- Prepare and present research findings in written form and deliver verbal presentations as necessary, either independently or in collaboration with the Intelligence Analyst.
- Coordinate with internal units, other regional forces, and national coordination centers to ensure the appropriate exchange of information and intelligence, adhering to all relevant legislation and policies.
- Design and execute research and evaluation projects, including conducting background research and developing and implementing suitable methodologies, along with establishing Terms of Reference and milestones.
