Norwich, Norfolk, United Kingdom Norfolk Full time

Permanent contract | Salary range: £24,294 to £25,979 per annum (Scale E) | 37 hours per week

This role is situated within the Assistive Technology Service, focusing on strategic planning and decision-making to ensure effective and timely delivery of assistive technology support to clients throughout the region.

The Assistive Technology Liaison Officers will collaborate closely with Assistive Technology Practitioners as part of a dedicated team, assessing and providing technology-enabled care solutions tailored to a diverse clientele.

Established in 2005, the Assistive Technology service has seen significant growth, particularly since 2016, enhancing its offerings to better serve the community.

Recently, the Assistive Technology service integrated with the Norfolk First Response initiative, aligning with the reablement directorate of the organization. This service operates alongside other essential services, including Community Social Work, Commissioning, and Integrated Care.

The Assistive Technology service is committed to evolving and adapting to meet the objectives of Adult Social Services, which aims to empower individuals to maintain independence, resilience, and overall well-being. The increased utilization of technology aligns with the organization's preventive responsibilities and supports the overarching goals of community development.

The Promoting Independence Board and the ASTEC (Adult Services Technology Enabled Care) Steering Group actively endorse the business case for Assistive Technology and related projects aimed at enhancing service delivery and expanding the use of assistive technology in adult social care.

The Assistive Technology environment is rapidly advancing, with the service increasingly leveraging innovative technologies to offer a broad spectrum of solutions. The types of technology utilized include:

  • Telecare: Sensors and detectors linked to a community alarm system, providing alerts to a monitoring center.
  • Stand-alone technology: Devices designed to operate in close proximity to prompt or notify individuals or caregivers.
  • GPS-enabled devices: Tools for locating individuals within the community.
  • Home activity monitoring systems: Implemented for both short-term and long-term assessments of home activity to inform care and support planning.
  • Mainstream technology: Includes video doorbells, Wi-Fi enabled sensors, smart speakers, and various applications.

This list is not exhaustive, as the team adopts a person-centered approach to identify the most suitable technology for each individual's needs.

The Assistive Technology Liaison Officers will play a vital role in supporting the broader team to uphold high standards and deliver quality service to clients. They will serve as a key coordinator of information among Assistive Technology Practitioners, clients and their families, suppliers, and installers.

Here are some benefits of working with the organization:

  • Competitive salary
  • Generous holiday entitlement with options to buy and sell leave
  • Health and Wellbeing services, including fast-track physiotherapy and free counseling
  • Flexible working arrangements, including options for part-time, remote, and hybrid work, depending on the role and business needs
  • Financial benefits such as relocation expenses for eligible positions, advances on travel expenses, and access to a tax-efficient car lease scheme for greener travel

We encourage interested candidates to review the full job description to effectively demonstrate how they meet the criteria.

Internal applications are welcome, and priority consideration may be given to current employees affected by organizational restructuring or in redeployment situations.
