Clinical Associate in Haematology and Blood Services

Position Overview
We are looking for an Associate Practitioner to join our esteemed Department of Blood Sciences, specializing in Haematology and Blood Transfusion. This role is pivotal as it involves collaboration with Biomedical Scientists and close interaction with the Pathology Reception team, forming an integral part of the Blood Sciences unit.
Key Responsibilities
The Associate Practitioner will undertake a variety of technical and administrative duties, including:
- Operating and maintaining automated analyzers in compliance with laboratory protocols, including quality control procedures.
- Conducting manual tests and accurately documenting results.
- Performing manual staining of blood smears.
- Registering patient samples into the Laboratory Information System, ensuring precise input of test requests.
- Centrifuging samples and preparing them for analysis.
- Assisting Biomedical Scientists by managing pending test lists.
- Coordinating the referral, packaging, and dispatch of samples to various Trust sites.
- Handling reception and telephone inquiries, liaising with Trust staff and the public.
- Managing stock control, including ordering and receiving deliveries, and maintaining inventory of reagents.
- Facilitating the training and competency evaluation of new staff members.
- Acting as a deputy for the Pathology Reception Team Leader when necessary.
