Position Overview

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to announce an opening for a Patient Care Support Specialist. This is a full-time role designed to enhance patient care through effective coordination and support.

The primary responsibility of this position is to identify and assist specific patient groups to enhance their healthcare experience, while ensuring accurate documentation and classification of these groups. This role will involve project-based work.

The successful candidate will be stationed at a designated site but will collaborate with a team across various practices, providing coverage during staff absences.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will possess a background in healthcare, complemented by strong customer service and administrative capabilities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collecting and entering data from both physical and digital communications into the clinical systems, ensuring that relevant clinical information is accurately extracted from medical documents within established timelines, adhering to local and national coding standards.
  • Utilizing analytical skills to interpret cases where the provided information may not be straightforwardly codable.
  • Managing incoming calls and inquiries, directing patients appropriately.
  • Offering general administrative and secretarial support to healthcare practices, including processing patient referrals and addressing inquiries from both patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Ensuring precise clinical coding of patient records, maintaining the confidentiality and accuracy of sensitive medical histories.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Mathematics and English at Level 2 (equivalent to A-C GCSE).
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health or a Diploma in Health Level 3, or an equivalent qualification or relevant experience in healthcare.
