Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity is available for a Lead Nurse to join our dedicated team in the Acute Elderly Admissions Ward. This innovative unit, comprising 19 beds, is part of the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital.

We seek skilled professionals who are passionate about delivering safe, high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will serve as a role model, guiding and mentoring junior staff members. Our focus on collaborative teamwork is essential to ensure timely and safe patient transitions to appropriate care environments.

As a key member of our dynamic nursing team, you will be responsible for coordinating ward activities and supporting the Ward Manager. The successful candidates will gain valuable clinical and managerial experience. While prior experience in a similar role is advantageous, it is not a strict requirement. The positions will involve rotating shifts, covering both day and night schedules throughout the week.

The successful candidate must exemplify compassionate and inclusive leadership, fostering a culture of collective leadership within the Trust.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care as part of the multidisciplinary team under the guidance of the Ward Manager.
  • Organize and coordinate nursing services in the ward during the absence of the Ward Manager.
  • Uphold accountability as outlined in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Maintain high clinical standards and ensure all nursing care meets established benchmarks.
  • Demonstrate compassionate and inclusive leadership to cultivate a collaborative leadership culture within the Trust.

Qualifications

Essential

  • 1st Level live NMC Registered Nurse
  • PP126/127
  • D32/33 or equivalent
  • Specialty Qualification
  • Proven ability to supervise, teach, and assess students (this is a requirement for the position, with an expectation to complete within 18 months).

Experience

Essential

  • Prior experience at Band 5 level
  • Experience in a relevant specialty
  • Evidence of practice development
  • Experience in team coordination
