Assistant Ward Manager

Position Overview:
The Assistant Ward Manager plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional nursing leadership within the ward team, supporting the Ward Manager in various responsibilities. This position requires a blend of clinical expertise and leadership skills to inspire confidence and provide guidance to the nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and communicate relevant policies and statutory regulations within the ward and hospital governance framework.
- Assess and manage risks within the immediate and broader working environment, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations.
- Promote equality and diversity, serving as a role model for these principles within the team.
- Identify and address gaps in skill mix and safe staffing levels to ensure optimal patient care.
- Supervise a designated group of team members, contributing to their continuous professional development, mandatory training, and performance evaluations.
- Foster a culture of learning and development, encouraging inquiry and a shared vision among the team.
- Implement, monitor, and evaluate therapeutic interventions within a comprehensive care program, assisting individuals with mental health and learning disability needs in developing coping strategies.
- Engage in collaborative problem-solving, empowering clients to take ownership of their issues and develop personalized solutions.
- Contribute to the collaborative assessment and management of risks related to harm, danger, and abuse.
- Act as the named nurse for a small group of patients, serving as an Associate nurse for colleagues during shifts and taking on the role of shift leader regularly.
