Position Overview

Are you a skilled Band 5 or current Band 6 Physiotherapist eager to enhance your expertise in the Musculoskeletal domain?

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive professional to join our established team within the MSK rotation at York Teaching Hospital. The rotation encompasses various areas including MSK Outpatients, Rheumatology, Pain Management, and Orthopaedic Inpatients.

The selected candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the high quality of care for our patients while also engaging in the education of students and peers. Additionally, there will be an expectation to contribute to the Orthopaedic weekend service.

We are looking for an innovative and forward-thinking practitioner who is committed to service development and improvement. Candidates must possess relevant clinical experience along with exceptional communication and organizational skills.

Clinical Responsibilities: MSK, chronic pain management, rheumatology, outpatient orthopaedics, inpatient orthopaedics.

Key Responsibilities

To conduct specialized physiotherapy assessments and manage a designated group of patients within the musculoskeletal orthopaedic outpatient and inpatient settings.

To provide guidance, specialized advice, and training to junior staff members and students. To serve as a resource within the department and Trust, offering expert information and advice regarding patients in the orthopaedic specialty.

To oversee a defined service area while working independently. Clinical work is not routinely assessed; however, it will be evaluated in accordance with Trust and service objectives. Support and advice are available from senior professional colleagues as needed.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Physiotherapy.
  • HCPC Registered Physiotherapist.

Desirable

  • Evidence of postgraduate qualifications or accreditation in the specialist area (MSK).
  • Practice placement supervisor qualification.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in a relevant junior role, managing a variety of conditions, with evidence of additional knowledge gained through formal and informal training and supervision.
  • Experience in delivering clinical treatment within the specialist area.

Desirable

  • Experience in a client-focused/NHS environment.
  • Developed/Specialist clinical skills in the relevant area.
  • Experience in training/supporting others (including students) within the specialist clinical area.
  • Delivery of relevant audit/research projects.
