About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Neonatal Sister with strong clinical leadership skills to lead the day-to-day running of the neonatal unit. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for demonstrating clinical leadership while working as a Band 7, as well as role modeling for those moving into more senior roles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work in accordance with the NMC's rules and standards for nurses and midwives.
  • Ensure that other NMC documents/standards and Trust policies/guidelines are adhered to.
  • Maintain and develop professional knowledge and competence in accordance with the NMC recommendations.
  • Implement recommendations from Government and professional bodies in relation to neonatal care.
  • Monitor the standards of cleanliness within your designated area and take appropriate action to rectify deficiencies.
  • Act as a clinical role model promoting professional, competent standards, working closely with the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills, reflecting and understanding the need to communicate effectively with women, their families, colleagues, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Achieve an environment that provides learning and professional development for all.

Person Specification
  • ENB 405 or equivalent neonatal course.
  • Mentorship course.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Management Qualification.
  • Personal Portfolio.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant 1st degree Neonatal qualification.
  • Management qualification.
  • Documented evidence of further studies.
  • Awareness and understanding of current national and local neonatal issues.
  • Demonstrate desire to improve standards.
  • Demonstrate understanding of budgetary control.
  • Understanding change management process.
  • Ability to be objective when assessing staff.
