Position Overview

Senior Clinical Practitioner

Full-time Opportunities Available

The successful candidate will take charge of developing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive Medical Care service within the organization, adhering to regional and national Same Day Emergency Care standards and protocols established with local healthcare authorities.

This role involves making prompt clinical decisions for patients presenting with various acute conditions, particularly those aligned with established Same Day Emergency Care pathways. The individual will operate independently as a Senior Clinical Practitioner, focusing on delivering patient-centered, high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities

- Assess, plan, execute, and review evidence-based nursing care programs.

- Offer expert guidance and clinical expertise, utilizing advanced nursing assessment skills grounded in specialized knowledge.

- Provide specialized education and mentorship to colleagues, managing a personal caseload while supervising and developing junior team members.

- Collaborate effectively with clinical peers to enhance service delivery and care quality.

- Partner with the acute Consultant Physician for Same Day Emergency Care to spearhead service development initiatives.

- Assume responsibility for creating and enforcing policies, procedures, and guidelines pertinent to the role.

- Advocate for patient and public engagement initiatives within the specialty area, driving service enhancements and improving patient experiences by addressing individual clinical needs.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with NMC or HCPC registration.
  • Relevant degree or education at the master's level.
  • Post-registration qualification in Acute Medicine, Emergency, or Critical Care Nursing.
  • Completion of Clinical Reasoning and Physical Assessment in Practice Module at Level 7.
  • Current ILS and IRMA certifications.

Desirable Criteria

  • Non-medical prescribing qualification.

Knowledge and Expertise

Essential Knowledge

  • Understanding of pathophysiology and clinical diagnostics.
  • Awareness of professional and NHS policies related to the specialty.
  • Familiarity with clinical research and audit methodologies.
