Job Title: Consultant in Older Adult Psychiatry- Weymouth CMHT

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Older Adult Psychiatry to join our team at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing high-quality care to older adults with mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality patient care and outcomes.
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans, taking into account the complex needs of older adults.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care pathways and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical governance policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and appraise junior medical staff, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional development.
Requirements
  • Hold a medical qualification (e.g. MBBS, equivalent) and be registered with the GMC.
  • Have a CCT in Older Adult Psychiatry or be on the Specialist Register in Psychiatry.
  • Have Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician approval or be able to obtain approval before starting the post.
  • Have excellent clinical skills, knowledge, and experience in Older Adult Psychiatry.
  • Be able to provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior medical staff.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance policies and procedures.
  • Experience of supervising and appraising junior medical staff.
  • Ability to critically appraise published research and contribute to audit projects.
