Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Older Adult Services team at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team, ensuring excellent patient care and outcomes.
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans, taking into account the bio-psycho-social needs of patients.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care pathways and effective communication.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical governance policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and appraise junior medical staff, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional development.
  • Participate in research and audit projects, contributing to the improvement of patient care and services.
Requirements
  • Eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register in Psychiatry.
  • Experience of working in Older Adult Psychiatry, with a strong understanding of the complexities of this specialty.
  • Excellent clinical skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to manage priorities, work under pressure, and make decisions based on evidence and experience.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance policies and procedures, with the ability to contribute to their development and implementation.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Teaching experience, with the ability to supervise and appraise junior medical staff.
  • Experience of working in a leadership role, with the ability to provide clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of research and audit methodologies, with the ability to contribute to the development and implementation of research and audit projects.
