Job Title: Consultant in Older Adult Psychiatry- Weymouth CMHT

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Consultant in Older Adult Psychiatry to join our team at Weymouth Community Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading clinical teams, and contributing to the development of our services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert clinical leadership and guidance to junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals.
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans for patients with complex mental health needs.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical policies and guidelines.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits to ensure high standards of patient care.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients.
Requirements:
  • Hold a medical qualification (e.g. MBBS) and be registered with the GMC.
  • Have a CCT in Older Adult Psychiatry or be on the Specialist Register in Psychiatry.
  • Have Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician approval or be able to obtain approval before starting post.
  • Have excellent clinical skills, knowledge, and experience in Older Adult Psychiatry.
  • Be able to provide effective leadership and management to junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
  • Experience of medicine outside psychiatry (e.g. general practice, medicine).
  • Teaching experience and ability to supervise junior medical staff.
  • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within the NHS or comparable service.
