Residential Children's Services Deputy Manager

Job Summary:
Polaris Community is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Manager to join our Residential Children's Services team. As a Deputy Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being and safety of young people in our care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of Team Leaders and Residential Support Workers to provide high-quality childcare and support to young people.
- Work closely with the Children's Home Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the residential home and achieve positive outcomes for young people.
- Ensure that the needs of young people are met and provide a positive and safe living experience.
- Manage and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the team, including staff supervision, training, and development.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of care and support are maintained.
- Collaborate with external agencies, professionals, parents, and families to ensure the best possible outcomes for young people.
- Conduct regular reviews and planning meetings to monitor progress and make adjustments as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and reports, including incident reports, staff performance reviews, and quality assurance documents.
Requirements:
- Good overall standard of education.
- Working towards or hold Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent.
- Up-to-date knowledge of Child Care legislation, children's home regulations, and quality standards.
- Hold a QCF Level 3 qualification or be willing to work towards one.
- Commitment to commence relevant level 5 Diploma within 6 months of appointment and successful completion of probation period, if not already qualified to this level.
- A minimum of 2 years' previous experience of working directly with young people with challenging behavior.
- Experience of working with outside agencies, other professionals, parents, and families.
- Excellent report writing and numeracy skills.
- Well-organized with excellent administration and IT skills.
- Able to relate to young people with empathy and committed to a high standard of child care and to achieve the best outcomes for young people in their care.
- Strong motivational, management, and leadership potential. Able to supervise, support, and develop Team Leaders & Residential Support Workers to create a cohesive team.
- The successful applicant will be subject to a DBS check at enhanced level if successful for the position.
- Must hold a full, clean UK Driving Licence (manual).
