Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Fellow at the ST3+ level in the field of Ophthalmology, specifically focusing on Medical Retina. This role is tailored to provide advanced training in the Medical Retina specialty within a leading healthcare institution.

Key Responsibilities

The Clinical Fellow will be engaged in a variety of tasks, including:

  • Delivering comprehensive Ophthalmology services with a concentration on Medical Retina.
  • Conducting outpatient consultations, managing injection procedures, and participating in surgical operations.
  • Collaborating effectively with fellow Ophthalmologists to optimize clinic and theatre schedules.
  • Upholding high standards of clinical practice in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of clinical care through appropriate monitoring.
  • Actively participating in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinating with management to enhance service delivery and implement best practices.
  • Providing ongoing patient care and ensuring smooth clinical operations.
  • Engaging with multidisciplinary teams to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Reporting critical clinical incidents promptly as per institutional policies.
  • Participating in the evening rota for eye casualty services.
  • Engaging in annual appraisal and job planning processes.
  • Completing mandatory training as required by the institution.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • A medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and full registration with the relevant medical council.
  • Experience in Medical Retina at a level comparable to a trainee nearing the end of their training.
  • A solid understanding of ophthalmic sciences and their application in clinical settings.
  • Proven ability to evaluate clinical cases and manage patient care effectively.
  • Strong teaching skills and a commitment to medical education.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • A proactive approach to personal and professional development.
