The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Fellow to join its Ophthalmology department. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing advanced specialist training in Vitreo-retinal.
Main Responsibilities- Provide high-quality Ophthalmology services at the University Hospitals of Leicester, with a specialty interest in Vitreo-Retinal.
- Work collaboratively with other Ophthalmologists to maximize the utilization of theatre lists and outpatient clinics.
- Ensure the provision of good standards of practice and care, adhering to the GMC Guidance 'Duties of a Doctor'.
- Participate in audit and quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical practice.
- Work closely with the CBU management team to ensure efficient delivery of services and adherence to best practices.
- Take responsibility for the proper organization and functioning of clinical practice, ensuring continuity of care for patients.
- Collaborate with other specialties, departments, and outside agencies to deliver the objectives of the Division and Clinical Business Unit.
- Report critical clinical incidents in a timely manner, adhering to the Trust's 'Critical Incident Policy'.
- Participate in yearly appraisal and job planning processes.
- Undertake Mandatory & Statutory training.

Person Specification- Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) or eligible for specialist registration within six months of interview.
- Adequate training in Ophthalmology, with excellent clinical skills and experience requisite to meeting all aspects of the Job Plan.
- Ability to apply sound clinical judgment to problems, with clear, logical thinking and analytical approach.
- Emergency eye casualty experience and extensive experience in Vitreo-Retinal.
- Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English, with the capacity to take others' perspectives and treat others with understanding.
