Position Overview

The role is for a Clinical Fellow (SpR grade) specializing in Ophthalmology, particularly in the field of Medical Retina. This position is intended to offer advanced sub-specialty training in Medical Retina.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive Ophthalmology services with a focus on Medical Retina.
  • Conduct outpatient clinics, injection procedures, and surgical operations at various healthcare facilities.
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow Ophthalmologists to optimize the use of clinical resources.
  • Adhere to high standards of medical practice and ensure compliance with professional guidelines.
  • Engage in clinical audits to enhance service delivery.
  • Work alongside management to ensure efficient service provision and adherence to best practices.
  • Maintain continuity of patient care and oversee the organization of clinical activities.
  • Coordinate with other specialties and departments to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Report critical clinical incidents promptly as per established protocols.
  • Participate in the rotational eye casualty Fellow evening rota.
  • Engage in annual performance reviews and job planning.
  • Complete mandatory training as required by the organization.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
  • Full registration with the GMC and a valid license to practice.

Desirable:

  • Near completion of CCT registration.

Experience

Essential:

  • Experience in Medical Retina comparable to a trainee approaching CCT.

Desirable:

  • Broader experience in Medical Retina beyond the standard trainee expectations.

Skills and Competencies

Essential:

  • Strong understanding of ophthalmic sciences and their application in clinical settings.
  • Solid foundational knowledge of ophthalmology.

Desirable:

  • Previous publications reflecting a deep understanding of clinical issues, audits, or research.
