Department: Department of Cardiology at Glenfield Hospital

Job Type: Fixed Term

Duration: 12 months with potential for extension

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Research Training Fellow to join our team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to undertake high-quality translational clinical research in cardiac electrophysiology and devices, with a focus on conduction system pacing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake research projects in cardiac electrophysiology and devices, with a focus on conduction system pacing
  • Work under the direct supervision of consultant cardiac electrophysiologists in the department
  • Participate in 1-2 outpatient clinics/week within the electrophysiology service
  • Attend 2-3 electrophysiology or devices lists a week, with training given in cardiac devices and EP
  • Contribute to the management of patients with complex arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation, and cardiac devices
  • Develop towards an MD/PhD thesis
  • Participate in research activities of the department
Requirements
  • Higher Specialist Training in Cardiology
  • Current National Training Number in Cardiology holder (NTN/VTN)
  • High degree of competence in all basic medical skills
  • Manual dexterity necessary to perform diagnostic and interventional procedures
  • Previous clinical or research experience in cardiology or techniques relevant to cardiology
  • Experience of teaching undergraduate and postgraduates
  • Commitment to teaching undergraduate and postgraduates
  • Experience in medical audit
  • Commitment to medical audit
  • Understanding of the place of research
  • CGP training
  • Evidence of relevant research activity
