Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology to join our team at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. This is a permanent replacement post that will enhance the current establishment of NHS and academic staff in the Department of Ophthalmology.

Main Responsibilities
  • Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and clinical audit.
  • Undertake management duties and work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to the General Ophthalmology and emergency service on the Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI) site and associated community hospitals.
About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and enthusiastic team of 27 Ophthalmologists. The successful appointee will be expected to participate in the development of the post and contribute to the growth of the department.

Requirements
  • Full GMC registration.
  • MBBS/MRCS.
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to teaching.
  • 4 years full-time postgraduate training or equivalent, at least 2 years as Ophthalmology trainee.
  • Ability to work in MDT teams and supervise juniors.
  • Ability to cope in stressful situations.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Ophthalmology and a passion for teaching and research. They will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
