Job Summary
University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking a Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology with a special interest in General and Non-Surgical Glaucoma to join our team. This is a permanent replacement post that will enhance our current establishment of NHS and academic staff in the Department of Ophthalmology.
Main Responsibilities
The successful appointee will participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, clinical audit, and management duties. They will work in a multidisciplinary team and contribute to the General Ophthalmology and emergency service on the Leicester Royal Infirmary site and associated community hospitals.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of 27 Ophthalmologists who provide sub-specialist and generalist Ophthalmology services within the UHL. The appointee will be expected to develop their skills and expertise in General and Non-Surgical Glaucoma, and contribute to the department's research and education goals.
Requirements
The appointee must be on the GMC specialist register or within 6 months of the interview date have a certificate of completion of specialist training. They must also have a strong commitment to teaching, research, and evidence-based practice.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Ophthalmology, with a minimum of 4 years full-time postgraduate training or equivalent. They will have excellent communication skills, be able to work in a multidisciplinary team, and have a strong commitment to teaching and research.
