Job Summary

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking a Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology with a special interest in General and Non-Surgical Glaucoma. The successful candidate will participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, clinical audit, and management duties within a multidisciplinary team.

Main Responsibilities

The appointee will contribute to the General Ophthalmology and emergency service on the Leicester Royal Infirmary site and associated community hospitals. They will be expected to develop and implement a principle interest in General Ophthalmology and Glaucoma, and participate in research and evidence-based practice.

About the Role

This is a permanent replacement post that will enhance the current establishment of NHS and academic staff of the Department of Ophthalmology. The appointee will join an active and enthusiastic team of 27 Ophthalmologists, providing sub-specialist Ophthalmology services within the UHL.

Requirements

  • Full GMC registration
  • MBBS/MRCS
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to teaching
  • 4 years full-time postgraduate training or equivalent, at least 2 years as Ophthalmology trainee
  • Ability to work in MDT teams and supervise juniors
  • Good communication skills
