Job Summary

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking a Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology with a special interest in General and Non-Surgical Glaucoma. The successful candidate will participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, clinical audit, and management duties, working in a multidisciplinary team.

Main Responsibilities

The appointee will be expected to contribute to the General Ophthalmology and emergency service on the Leicester Royal Infirmary site and associated community hospitals. They will also participate in research and evidence-based practice in all aspects of medical care.

About the Role

This is a permanent replacement post that will enhance the current establishment of NHS and academic staff of the Department of Ophthalmology. The appointee will join an active and enthusiastic team of 27 Ophthalmologists, providing sub-specialist Ophthalmology services within the UHL.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have full GMC registration, MBBS/MRCS, and at least 4 years of full-time postgraduate training or equivalent. They will also have experience in working in MDT teams, supervising juniors, and coping in stressful situations.
