Job Overview

Objective of the Role

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for collaborating with project teams to ensure that all components and services are acquired in accordance with company protocols, while adhering to current legal standards and consistently seeking optimal contractual conditions.

This role provides essential purchasing assistance to the organization and engineering project teams, facilitating internal initiatives, research and development, prototype creation, and production customer programs.

It is crucial to select appropriate suppliers that align with project needs, ensuring that purchase orders are issued promptly and managed effectively, while maintaining control over any changes.

Throughout this position, the individual should continuously seek opportunities to enhance departmental processes.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate with Supplier Quality Engineers (SQE) to ensure that any challenges are recorded and addressed efficiently.

Guarantee timely delivery of parts that meet specifications to mitigate business risks.

Manage a diverse workload effectively.

Assist in the onboarding of vendors to MAHLE's established processes.

Contribute to the development of the supply chain as the company transitions from traditional internal combustion engine units to a variety of powertrain technologies.

Foster relationships with suppliers to ensure that cost, lead time, and quality align with project specifications, with the potential to oversee the process from sourcing to delivery.

Collaborate closely with the engineering team and other internal stakeholders to support various projects.

Implement procurement activities in compliance with MAHLE's procedures, ensuring that project milestones are achieved in a timely manner.

Performance Metrics

Meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Supplier Delivery and Quality performance metrics.

Engage in continuous improvement initiatives.

Release purchase orders in accordance with the Engineering Timing Release Schedule (ETRS).

Educational Background

A degree is preferred.

Required Skills and Experience

Strong IT proficiency, particularly in MS Office, is essential.

Familiarity with SAP is advantageous.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are necessary.

Knowledge of Windchill or similar Product Data Management/Product Lifecycle Management systems is desirable.

Strong negotiation abilities are required.

A general understanding of markets, products, and commodities is beneficial.

Proven experience in purchasing is essential.

A solid understanding of contract law is advantageous.

Competencies

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be well-organized, and maintain composure under pressure.

Professionalism in interactions with suppliers, customers, and colleagues is expected, along with the ability to work independently.

Flexibility regarding work location and hours is necessary.

Willingness to travel globally as required for the role is essential.
