Head of HR Operations

At Slough Borough Council, we are committed to public service reform and delivering value to our residents. As the Head of HR Operations, you will be a key player in our HR Management Team, reporting directly to the Director of HR & Workforce Transformation.
**What you’ll be doing**:
- Lead and manage an effective HR Operations service, taking accountability for planning, finance, performance, people, change, and risk management.
- Contribute to the service plan, preparing team plans that align with the wider HR&OD service area.
- Provide high-quality HR services to 1,000 staff, including recruitment, contracts, onboarding, payroll, pensions, and leavers.
- Organize and prioritize work to support self-service, allowing HR officers to focus on complex cases.
- Drive continuous improvement in service quality, efficiency, and customer experience through innovation and new technologies.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams to plan, procure, and implement commercial arrangements with suppliers.
**What you’ll have**:
- Professional qualification and full membership of CIPD or equivalent.
- Substantial management experience leading high-performing HR services.
- Excellent workforce planning, workload management, and demand management skills.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to work collaboratively across organizational boundaries.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and judgment.
