**Surgery Reception and Administration Support Apprentice with West Hoe Surgery**

**Working week**

Monday - Friday - working within shifts initially over 5 days but may change to 4 days. Working times/shifts will be confirmed at the interview (30 minutes unpaid lunch break)

**What you will do in your working day**

Responsibilities will be varied but are primarily to support a busy reception area:

- Assisting with patients at the reception area
- Assisting with enquiries over the phone and face to face
- Booking in patients for routine appointments
- Handling general medical enquiries including liaising with GPs and other NHS contacts
- Administration tasks will include scanning of documents, photocopying notes and records, filing patient notes and general accurate record keeping tasks

- Full Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard - Level 2
- On-the-job training to support role development
- Off-the-job training (College attendance) to support qualification requirements
- Employer to allocate dedicated training time to complete Off the Job training requirements
- Functional Skills support - maths/English - if required

**Things to consider**

Due to the nature of the business an understanding of client/patient confidentiality will be expected at all times. The Reception area can be a demanding and sometimes challenging area to work so a calm and focused approach in dealing with patients/enquiries will be needed. Part of qualification requirement is regular college attendance, and this is currently one full day per month, and this is supported by regular remote training and site visits. College is based at Marsh Mills, Plymouth
