Patient Administration Officer

We are looking for a Patient Administration Officer to join the team at our centre based in Portsmouth on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

As the Patient Administration Officer (PAO) you will undertake all administrative and reception activities required along with providing excellent customer care to patients and visitors attending the Centre.

Hours: Full time, 12 month FTC

What you’ll do:
Key areas for the role:
- Work closely with consultants and secretaries to provide support in the patient pathway.- Appropriately direct all incoming calls and participate in all reception duties- Collaborate with PAO colleagues ensure consistent cover for the centre’s reception.- Liaise with insurance companies to ensure all insurance cover is verified.- Liaise with consultants, secretaries, radiographers and nursing staff regarding new patient and review clinics, follow-up clinics and during treatment courses.- Act as point of contact for all patients ensuring a professional and efficient service.- Ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained in respect of personal information in accordance with GenesisCare policies and statutory legislation.- Cover reception and participate in all reception duties.- Maintain a safe and clean reception area by complying with procedures and regulations.- Triage and appropriately direct all incoming calls from reception.- Provide administrative support to the business development team in the collation and maintenance of practicing privileges for consultants including photocopying, filing and associated telephone communications.- Be responsible for the weekly maintenance of the centre’s fire box.- Ensure all patients always experience the highest levels of service.- Maintain accurate and complete records of patient details in line with the agreed processes within GenesisCare.- Work respectfully with all team members, ensuring that clear communication and effective working relations are maintained.- Be aware of the close working relationship with any partner hospital and comply with their local rules and policies.- Follow departmental protocols, policies and procedures and operate in full compliance with all relevant guidelines.- Undertake continual professional development (CPD) and company designated mandatory training.- Occasionally work out of hours to ensure that breakdown or crisis are resolved with minimum impact to service and treatments.- Adhere to company standards in respect of appearance, behaviour, and demeanour- Work flexibly to achieve GenesisCare business objectives- Act as a trainer and mentor for new staff- Carry out any other duties appropriate for a post of this nature

What you’ll have:
Experience and Skills:
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.- Previous experience managing a busy reception area- Experience in a customer focused environment- Strong relationship building skills- Experience within a diverse range of administrative roles- Evidence of an empathetic and holistic approach to patient care- Experience with resolving complaints satisfactorily

Qualifications and Knowledge:
- Experience of using Mosaic IT package an advantage- Be proficient in all MS office packages including, but not limited to, Word, Excel & Outlook- Previously worked within the healthcare sector preferred
