The Trauma Coordinator role epitomises fantastic communication and support, providing relevant information to the patient, families and carers, with regular updates regarding management in a timely and appropriate manner. Through improved coordination and communication between multidisciplinary staff your role will be vital to patient pathway.

As part of the multidisciplinary trauma team you will be aware of all Major Trauma patients in the ED, Major Trauma Ward and outlying ward areas, working closely with the Major Trauma consultant.

Our Trauma coordinators also support audit, service improvement, patient documentation and transfer of information within trauma networks with a keen focus on education and facilitation of our turbo teaching sessions.
- To work with medical, nursing and therapy colleagues to coordinate the effective pathways of care for major trauma patients, regardless of which speciality they are under, optimising their safety and well being
- To exercise a high degree of personal and professional autonomy, drawing upon advanced knowledge and experience
- To attend relevant ward rounds including Major Trauma ward, orthopaedics and paediatrics rounds in conjunction with the team to oversee and promote well organised, multi-disciplinary care for all major trauma patients
- To ensure that all trauma patients ‘outlying’ in other areas are reviewed daily in terms of progress of clinical care
- To provide specialist advice and peer support to AHP, nursing, medical, social care and educational colleagues in the overall management of the major trauma patient presenting with complex problems
- To provide highly specialised advice to the patient, family and carers regarding the management of trauma-related conditions
- Work in partnership with the trauma therapists, discharge co-ordinators and bed management team to ensure swift and clinically effective repatriation and discharge of trauma patients
- To provide expert clinical advice to Trauma Units regarding the care of trauma patients and protocols in conjunction with Network Manager, Trauma Governance Lead and Major Trauma Therapy Lead.
