Clinical Placements Administrator

London, United Kingdom St. George's University of London Full time

The Institute of Medical and Biomedical Allied Education and the Centre for Allied Health (IMBAE) is the largest of the four St George’s institutes and home to nearly 150 academic and professional services staff. Our mission is high-quality medical, healthcare and science education that immerses students in research and practice and prepares them well for their future lives. We have established relationships with educational leads at all our partner hospitals, and work with a wide range of professions in the community, including hospices, nurseries, refugee support services, voluntary organisations and other partners delivering teaching to our medical students.

Following a recent review of the resources within the MBBS Programme Team supporting our clinical placement provision, we are radically transforming the entire process of placement allocation to ensure long-term sustainability which will offer scope and flexibility to improve student experience and meet planning needs of our clinical placement providers.

With this in mind, we are in process of establishing a new team within the MBBS Quality and Partnerships Unit, dedicated entirely to managing all stages of the allocations process from recruiting placement providers to early forecasts, through to final allocations. The new Clinical Placements Allocations team will comprise five roles with dedicated tasks at varying levels of responsibility:

- Clinical Placements Manager (SGUL 6)
- Clinical Placement Coordinators x 2 (SGUL 5) (one for early clinical years and one for the final two years of the programme)
- Clinical Placement Administrator x 1 (SGUL 4) (one already in post)

This advert relates to the appointment of the Clinical Placements Administrator (penultimate and final years) who will provide excellent, precise and proactive administrative support for the full set of activities related to clinical placement allocations across the various years of the programme and across all partner sites (in primary and secondary care settings). The postholder will act as the first point of contact for student/placement provider queries and ensuring that relevant information is maintained, updated and reviewed as appropriate to ensure excellent and consistent service delivery to MBBS students and clinical partner providers

The post requires clear and concise communication and strong organisational skills. Familiarity with educational software and experience of higher education environment is an advantage but not essential. The role would suit a self-starter, with a positive attitude to change and ambition to progress within the higher education sector.

Flexible working, including part-time or reduced hours of work, opportunities to work from home, compressed hours and local flexibility in agreeing start and finish times of work are among the extra benefits offered by St George’s, University of London.
