**Job summary**:
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham for a Booking Coordinator Supervisor. We are seeking a self-motivated and determined individual to join and supervise our friendly team of inpatient waiting list coordinators. The team's primary function is to manage and coordinate the inpatient waiting lists and the booking of theatre cases in our busy department.

This post requires an individual who can prioritise the team's workload, has excellent communication and interpersonal skills and can work under pressure. The post-holder will be a key member of the team, ensuring continued achievement of work deadlines; meeting agreed waiting time targets and customer care.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:

- To provide and support the development and implementation of improved process of care for direct booking of Inpatient and Day cases in collaboration with divisional management teams. Work as part of the booking team to achieve sustainable clinical change and process redesign. To aid in the achievement of the Trust and National Booking Targets and in creating and implementing a division Central Booking Service. Ensure Targets and outcomes are met within an agreed timescale and achieved in accordance with the philosophy and framework of the programme proposals.
- The Post holder is required to work on their own initiative and under instruction from the Neurosurgery Inpatient Pathway Team Leader & Operational Manager. Manage and prioritise their own projects and work load; this will require excellent planning and organisational skills. The Post holder must be able to communicate information, sometimes contentious and complex to a wide range of staff groups, Consultants, GP surgeries, PCT's etc. Good understanding of system reform issues facing the NHS in particular and the implementation of the 18-week target and understanding of any and all ongoing changes. The post holder must have excellent reassurance skills and be empathic to the needs of patient, and their relatives/carers.
- Using their own judgement the post holder will prioritise their workload effectively.
