Job description

The Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Team is a specialist team within the HR directorate. We partner and collaborate across the breadth of the university.

The role of the EDI team is to promote best practice in EDI to enable all staff and students to achieve excellence. The University holds a Silver Athena Swan Award and several faculty/departmental Athena Swan awards. King’s holds a Bronze Race Equality Charter Mark Award. We are a member of the Business Disability Forum, and we are ranked 14th in the UK in Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index.

This post sits within the EDI Project and Partnerships team, which works in dynamic partnership with academic faculties and professional services functions to further King’s EDI goals on a local level.

This post will be offered on a indefinite contract. This is a full-time post. Flexible working, part time and job shares will be considered.

Key responsibilities
- Manage and evaluate scoped and agreed EDI projects in line with established ways of working.
- Manage own workload, across multiple projects, to achieve objectives with appropriate supervision, line management support and coaching.
- Manage and evaluate EDI activities engaging staff and students.
- Collate and analyse quantitative and qualitative data to inform evidence-led decision-making.
- Provide regular written and verbal reports for a variety of specialist and non-specialist audiences.
- Manage stakeholders (including academic faculties and professional service functions, students and staff) across a devolved, complex organisation to further EDI.
- Manage student interns/staff, and volunteers to deliver EDI activity.
- Support decision-makers by providing specialist insight and guidance on issues of EDI.

Skills, knowledge, and experience

Essential criteria

1. Ability to manage own workload with appropriate supervision

2. Stakeholder engagement and management skills:

- able to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
- able to build and manage good working relationships

3. Ability to provide a high-quality service

4. Analytical ability using either quantitative or qualitative data

5. Ability to communicate specialist, complex concepts and information

6. Experience managing and evaluating projects

7. Experience producing reports for internal and external audiences

8. Willingness to work in a flexible, agile manner across all London campuses

9. Willingness to engage in activity to professionally develop

10. Enthusiasm for working in an environment with ambiguity, challenge, and risk

Desirable criteria

1. Experience working in a devolved, complex environment

2. Demonstrable experience furthering Diversity & Inclusion objectives

3. Experience managing student staff and/or volunteers
