Job Description

The Banking and Expansion team are responsible for improving our payment system connections across the world to help our customers move money instantly, transparently and conveniently at as low a cost as possible. This is first achieved through bank and payment service provider (PSP) partnerships, and then eventually through direct connections with payment systems like UK Faster Payments (FPS) and central infrastructure like SWIFT.

Our payment connections with banks, payment systems and other providers determine the quality and economics of our product. Wise became the first non-bank to become part directly connected to FPS and we want to replicate that all over the world. Combining this with our understanding of regulation is crucial, allowing us to achieve our mission through new and innovative ways of moving money globally.

Your Mission:

Define and lead our payment infrastructure in the UK and Europe. At Wise, we are building the best infrastructure to move money internationally, so you will:
As part of our regional product team, help define the opportunities and direction for our payment products in Europe. Collaborate across teams and inspire others so that we deliver the best payment products in the region
Create new opportunities by working closely with our existing banking payment service providers to ensure we continuously improve our product (i.e. increase speed, reduce costs, add more visibility to our transactions, etc.).
Understand and help our product teams understand in detail the existing and planned payments infrastructure in Europe and the U.K., and how we should use and access it to provide the best cross-border payments services to our customers.
Manage an end-to-end process: find the right potential banking and payment system partners, pitch Wise as a client, negotiate the commercial agreements and contracts, complete account opening forms, explain our compliance processes, pass due diligence, and do anything else needed to be ready for development.
Coach our operational teams to ensure we can scale and automate our products to ensure a high degree of payment system automation
Work with our compliance teams, grow regulatory knowledge to ensure our partnerships and processes are fully compliant with future regulatory changes
