Role Overview:

The Payments and Innovation Manager will serve as a senior policy advisor for European and international payments and regulatory engagements. This role involves supporting Payments' members, managing key regulatory and policy issues, and coordinating with international stakeholders, including the European Payments Council, European Retail Payments Board, and others. The manager will liaise with UK bodies such as the FCA and HM Treasury.

Key

Responsibilities:

Policy Development: Formulate responsive policies addressing customer needs and regulatory concerns.

Secretariat Support: Provide high-quality inputs to working groups and committees, ensuring timely and effective policy delivery.

Committee Management: Lead the International Payments Engagement Policy Committee, offering strategic advice and contributing to The Bodies Payments Product and Services Board (PPSB).

European Coordination: Manage the European Payments Working Group, align UK policies with European developments, and oversee SEPA membership.

Strategic Partnership: Collaborate on international payments issues with team members.

Trade Association Liaison: Maintain relationships with EU and international trade associations like the EBF, EPC, and IBFed.

Regulatory Engagement: Act as a technical expert with key regulators including HM Treasury, FCA, and PSR.

Cross-Cutting Projects: Support The Bodies colleagues on payments, digital, data, economic crime, and Brexit-related issues.

Market Insights: Provide members with relevant market and regulatory insights.

Documentation: Prepare consultation responses and communicate with senior representatives.

Skills and Competencies:
Strong knowledge of the European and international public policy landscape.Extensive experience in the payments sector, understanding member challenges and regulatory needs.Deep understanding of the international payments ecosystem, especially UK-Europe engagement.Expertise in the wider payments landscape, including card and interbank payments.Credible representation of The Bodies in external forums, including speeches, webinars, and media engagements
