Our client, an International Bank, is looking for a Deputy Head of Payment Services to join their team in London.

This role is 5 days per week in the office.

The purpose of the role is to support the Head of Department with the development

and execution of the Banks payment strategy. This role ensures the seamless operation, security,

and compliance of payment processes while enhancing the overall customer experience. The

Deputy Head of Payments assists in driving innovation, efficiency, and growth in payment systems

and process to support the organisations business objectives and profitability.

Key responsibilities / accountabilities:
Support the development and execution of the organisations payment strategy.

Assist in overseeing the day-to-day payment processing operations to ensure efficiency and security, including reconciliation tasks.

Help ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to payments.

Lead and support departmental projects overseeing testing, integration and optimisation of processes, payment technologies and systems.

Assist in managing relationships with both internal and external customers.


Contribute to monitoring and analysing payment process performance and providing insights and reports to senior management on a scheduled and ad hoc basis.

Aid in enhancing the customer experience by ensuring payment processes are seamless and secure.


Organise, manage and motivate direct reports through the establishment of a suitable departmental structure and implement development programmes to optimise competence and productivity.

Be well informed on industry trends and innovations in relation to payments industry.

Maintain the departmental RCSA, escalating incidents as and when required.

Contributing towards operational risk scenarios and internal tests.

Ensuring successful departmental contribution to FSCS internal/external tests.

Conducting peer analysis, ensuring the profitability of the department with a view to cost mitigation and zero operational losses.

Periodic reviews of departmental policies and procedures, ensuring proper governance.

Assisting with end of year audit processes, gathering evidence and closing any outstanding actions as and when required.

Deputise for the Head of Department at various committees and project working groups.

Skills and Experience:
10+ years of experience in payments, transaction banking or related field within the financial services industry.

Proven track record of at least 5 years in management or leadership role overseeing payment operations and managing teams.

Demonstrable experience in leading and executing payment project inclusive of implementations and upgrades.

Demonstrable experience in identifying and implementing automation and process improvements.

Bachelors Degree or equivalent as a minimum.

Certification in principles of Payments.
