JOB PURPOSE To provide accounting expertise and support to the Group Financial Controller and the wider finance department.

The role is essential to delivering the financial reporting that is key to informing the business and its investors about the Group's performance, enabling the business to make effective decisions on a timely basis.

The role will also be responsible for the Group's Budgeting and Forecasting process; planning, challenging and holding the business to account on its annual and rolling budgets.

This role involves leading, motivating and helping a team perform above and beyond expectations and striving for continuous improvement within the wider head office finance function./nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Group and subsidiary statutory accounts: Preparation of the financials and coordinating the preparation of the non-financial sections
  • Own the relationship with the Group's external auditors
  • Ensuring compliance with IFRS for the more technical accounting areas, e.g. acquisition accounting, disposal accounting, impairment reviews, adopting new accounting standards, share based payments, hedging, put and call options, etc
  • Pro-actively look at future accounting standards and assess their impact on the Group
  • Manage and develop the financial reporting team, driving a culture of continuous improvement and best practice
  • Manage the production of the Group's monthly management accounts, adapting them to best reflect the latest financial priorities of the Board and Exec
  • Preparation of papers and presentations for the Exec, Board, Audit Committee, Remuneration Committee, staff and external parties on business results and issues arising
  • Oversee the monthly internal reporting process, working closely with the divisional teams to and introduce a best practice month-end process
  • Own the Group's weekly sales reporting, including the Tableau dashboarding and analytics
  • Plan, co-ordinate and deliver the annual and rolling budget processes and assist with completing the Board presentations
  • Develop relationships with stakeholders both within finance and within the commercial business to anticipate and meet their needs
