Position Overview

The Financial Reporting Manager will collaborate closely with our Financial Reporting Senior Managers and Financial Reporting Assistant Accountant to deliver essential financial reporting and accounting insights to both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

This role encompasses the preparation and evaluation of critical documents such as the Annual Report, Financial Statements, monthly budgeting workbooks, quarterly accounting packages, and Whole of Government Accounts submissions.

The position will require thorough analysis and reconciliation of extensive financial data, necessitating regular communication with finance colleagues across the organization to identify and address discrepancies.

Working alongside the Financial Reporting Assistant Accountant, successful candidates will enhance their managerial and delegation capabilities.

Additionally, there will be opportunities to engage in significant projects, including the development and implementation of innovative financial software systems and processes.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, constantly seeking opportunities for improvement and innovation. As a seasoned finance professional, you will understand the importance of teamwork in fostering a productive, collaborative, and inclusive atmosphere.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential, with the ability to analyze substantial volumes of data utilizing formulas and pivot tables. A keen interest in comprehending the organization’s various software systems, their financial data recording processes, and their interconnections is crucial. Experience in year-end accounts production and auditor liaison is also required.

Strong technical accounting expertise, including knowledge of IFRS, is expected. A comprehensive understanding of IFRS 9 is advantageous, given the significance of financial assets in our Statement of Financial Position.

Resilience and the ability to manage senior-level stakeholders are essential. You will be adept at building positive relationships with key stakeholders, including internal delivery teams and the National Audit Office. Prioritizing your workload to ensure timely and quality outputs while being mindful of key risks is critical.

A recognized professional accountancy qualification, such as ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, or CIMA, is required.
