Position Overview:

The primary focus of this role is to oversee and enhance the Financial Reporting and Control functions within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage proactively in the completion and review of all deliverables from the Financial Reporting and Control team, ensuring compliance with UKGAAP, JGAAP, and US GAAP.
  • Coordinate the production of statutory accounts, collaborating with internal stakeholders and external auditors to finalize the Annual Report.
  • Maintain regular communication with various departments, including Product Control, Regulatory Reporting, Tax, and Front Office, to ensure timely completion of financial reporting tasks.
  • Participate in new business initiatives, providing insights related to financial reporting and control.
  • Oversee the monthly balance sheet substantiation process and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Work closely with the SOX team to ensure timely completion of all SOX submissions.
  • Continuously enhance processes to mitigate reporting risks.
  • Manage the daily operations of the Financial Reporting and Control team, including conducting staff appraisals and setting objectives.
  • Ensure equitable distribution of workload within the team and maintain coverage during absences.
  • Supervise the offshore Financial Reporting team, facilitating effective collaboration between onshore and offshore members to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Stay informed about developments in UK GAAP and IFRS, managing the coordination of impact analysis across the organization and communicating findings to stakeholders.
  • Utilize technical expertise in UK GAAP and IFRS to identify accounting and financial reporting implications for new products and business initiatives.
  • Engage with auditors and Head Office regarding changes in accounting practices or subjective areas.
  • Undertake any additional assignments or initiatives as directed by the Head of Financial Reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Background in accounting.
  • Experience in the banking or financial services sector.
  • Proven experience in a financial reporting role.
  • Experience in team management.
  • Strong technical knowledge and skills.
  • Good understanding of accounting for investment banking products, including bonds, repos, and derivatives.
  • Proficient IT skills, particularly in Microsoft applications such as Excel.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS, with the ability to apply this knowledge practically.
  • Fully qualified accountant or equivalent experience.
