London, Greater London, United Kingdom Trustwide Full time

Job overview

Due to the expansion of our service, we are advertising for 2 permanent Band 8A Principal Clinical Scientist posts in Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation safety. We are looking for DR physicists with a few years' experience and a good background in Quality Assurance and radiation protection/safety to work within the Radiological Sciences Unit (RSU) at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHNT). The successful candidate will join a team of 10 physicists delivering scientific and technical support and radiation safety services to ICHNT and a number of external organisations.

The Trust has a full range of state-of-the-art imaging equipment and a dose management system and RSU provides a broad range of clinical service support, teaching and research in all imaging modalities at Hammersmith, Charing Cross and St Mary's Hospitals. Therefore, the successful candidate (who must be HCPC registered) is expected to play a key role in acceptance, commissioning and routine quality assurance of x-ray diagnostic equipment. They will be appointed as MPEs and expected to provide MPE support in Diagnostic Radiology and contribute to the development and optimisation of examination protocols, providing compliance with IRMER legislation.

Candidates with less experience who are working towards gaining Medical Physics Expert (MPE) status in Diagnostic Radiology are encouraged to apply as training and support will be available.

Main duties of the job
