About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Trainee Radiation Safety Physicist to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Radiation Safety Section, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality, safety, and effectiveness of radiation use in healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
As a Trainee Radiation Safety Physicist, you will be responsible for:
- Carrying out X-ray equipment testing on a full range of X-ray imaging systems
- Developing skills and knowledge in laser safety, personal dosimetry, equipment calibration, and sealed and unsealed radioactive source work
- Working towards clinical scientist registration with route 2 or in-service STP routes
Person Specification
We are looking for a candidate with:
- A good (1st or 2nd class) undergraduate Honours degree in a relevant pure or applied science
- Working knowledge or experience of the techniques employed to measure the performance and radiological safety of standard X-ray imaging equipment
- Working knowledge of how to measure the leakage from sealed radioactive sources
