About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Principal Physicist to join our team at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a key member of our Radiation Safety and Diagnostic Radiology department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective use of ionizing radiation in our diagnostic imaging services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a Radiation Protection Adviser and Medical Physics Expert in Diagnostic Radiology for the Trust and for outside contracts, as required under The Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017 and The Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposures) Regulations 2017 respectively.
  • Assist with the management and provision of radiation safety advice and services for all uses of ionizing radiation in the Trust and diagnostic radiology physics support to the Trust and to other organizations who have contracts with Clinical Physics.
  • Act as the lead MPE for CT across all sites, working closely with the CDC management team to ensure a governance and quality assurance structure for radiation safety and diagnostic radiology physics is in place.
  • Develop protocols for assessment of new CT technology and train physics staff in CT performance evaluation.
