Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Physicist to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Radiation Safety Section, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, safety, and effectiveness of radiation use in healthcare.

Main Responsibilities

  • Carry out X-ray equipment testing on a full range of X-ray imaging systems.
  • Develop skills and knowledge in laser safety, personal dosimetry, equipment calibration, sealed and unsealed radioactive source work.
  • Conduct audits and assessments to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, national standards, and professional guidelines.

Requirements

  • Good (1st or 2nd class) undergraduate Honours degree in a relevant pure or applied science.
  • Working knowledge or experience of the techniques employed to measure the performance and radiological safety of standard X-ray imaging equipment.
  • Broad understanding of patient and staff risks from ionising and laser radiation.
  • Ability to deliver teaching and training on complex subjects.
  • Proficiency in using Excel, Word, Access, and other software to set up documents and spreadsheets and extract information.
