Fulfil your potential in hospitals that make history:

With five world-renowned hospitals, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is full of opportunity if you are looking to develop your healthcare career.

We are an NHS Trust of approximately 14,000 people, providing care for over a million and a half patients from north west London and beyond every year.

We have a rich heritage and an ambitious vision for the future of our patients and local communities.

With our partners, Imperial College London, and The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, we form Imperial College Academic Health Science Centre, one of 6 academic health science centres in the UK, working to ensure the rapid translation of research for better patient care and excellence in education.

We are proud of our heritage in innovation and we are early adopters of new insights in technologies, techniques and treatments for improving health.

Due to the expansion of our service, we are advertising for 2 permanent Band 8A Senior Clinical Scientist posts in Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation safety (RP).

We are looking for self-motivated and enthusiastic physicists with a few years of experience and a good background in Quality Assurance, optimisation and radiation protection/safety, to work within the Radiological Sciences Unit (RSU) at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHNT).

The successful candidates will join a friendly and dynamic team delivering scientific and technical support and radiation safety services to ICHNT and a number of external organisations.

The post holder is expected to be a registered HCPC clinical scientist who will play a key role in procurement, acceptance, commissioning, optimisation and routine quality assurance of x-ray diagnostic equipment.

It would be advantageous if the applicant also has some teaching experience as they will be supporting STP training and might be lecturing at MSc level.

Candidates with less experience (~ 3 years in band 7 post STP) who are working towards gaining Medical Physics Expert (MPE) status in Diagnostic Radiology are strongly encouraged to apply, as training and support is available.

Act as Radiological Physicist with regard to x-ray imaging modalities and to actively develop physics services for these modalities within the trust and SLA customers.

Fulfil the role of Medical Physics Expert for the Trust and key SLA customers.

Carry out Critical Examination, Acceptance and Commissioning testing as delegated by RPA and troubleshooting of a large number of different complex x-ray imaging modalities, systems and associated software in the Trust and to SLA customers.

Providing detailed reports on the results, making suggestions and giving advice or complex, highly specialised scientific information.
Carry out environmental, staff and patient dose surveys as delegated by the RPA.
Participate in procurement projects where appropriate.
Provide specialist expertise in scientific, computing, image processing and software applications in support of the clinical use and development of diagnostic x-ray systems within the Trust and for SLA customers
