Defect and Aftercare Project Manager

Location: Central London

The Role

We are currently looking for a Defect & Aftercare Manager with proven experience within the MEP Construction Industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical & Public Health systems with excellent quality assurance skills.

This role requires a process-driven individual who can identify snagging and defective works during the installation phase and close out of a project. Must have the ability to manage the subcontractors to rectify defects/snagging identified and recorded during their quality assurance reviews of all systems throughout the contract duration.

Responsibilities:

Oversee and manage the defect rectification process, ensuring prompt and efficient resolution of issues. Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal teams to gather and assess defect reports, identifying priority areas and creating action plans. Coordinate and allocate resources to address defects, working closely with technicians, engineers, and subcontractors as needed. Monitor and track defect resolution progress, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards. Provide regular updates to clients and stakeholders regarding defect rectification progress and any challenges encountered. Conduct site visits and inspections to assess and evaluate defects, determining appropriate corrective actions. Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement effective aftercare programs, ensuring client satisfaction and long-term operational success. Act as a point of escalation for any complex or high-priority issues, working closely with relevant stakeholders to facilitate swift resolution. Manage and maintain accurate documentation throughout the defect rectification and aftercare processes.

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Defect and Aftercare Project Manager or a similar role, preferably within the M&E or Construction Industry. Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and fabric systems, as well as their typical defects and remediation techniques. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders at all levels. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive and results-oriented mindset. Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices. Proficiency in using project management tools and software.
