Job summary

As a Crisis Recovery Worker, you will be required to provide a high quality, recovery focused service to our clients who have a range of mental health and autistic traits as well as other support needs including learning disabilities, physical health issues and substance misuse, whilst promoting independence and social inclusion.With experience of working within a community based, mental health setting, you should be able to inspire, engage and motivate people.

Main duties of the job

With the proven ability to identify barriers, understand need and support people to achieve their goals the role will include one to one engagement, facilitating activities within the service and community, administrative tasks, sign posting and engaging people in other provision.You will work alongside other Crisis Recovery Workers, Peer Support Workers (PSW) and Clinicians to achieve the best person-centered care with the service user for their recovery, whether that be joint working with other services to support them to make reasonable adjustments or PSW so patients can learn and practice skills.* You will be part of a small team supporting people in a crisis drop-in centre.* We are a non-clinical service, providing support to reduce immediate distress to those at risk of self-harm, suicide or experiencing trauma.* Our service provides information, safety planning and signposting for clients, their families, and carers to meet their holistic needs.

Job Title: Crisis Recovery WorkerHours of work: 24 hours per week (4 x 6 hour shifts over 7 days)Service opening hours: Monday-Sunday 17:00- 23:00Salary: £24,960 with progression up to £27,560 per annumBase: East Berkshire Safe haven, 54 High Street, SLOUGH, SL1 1EL About us East Berkshire Safe Haven, operated by Mental Health Matters (MHM) in partnership with the mental health crisis team, is a crisis support service in Slough, established in April 2022. Open seven days a week from 5 pm to 11 pm, it offers free mental health support to individuals aged 18 and above. The service provides a welcoming and informal setting with refreshments, offering one-on-one support without requiring prior engagement with Adult Mental Health Services. East Berkshire Safe Haven is available through walk-in, telephone, and virtual options and is dedicated to assisting individuals dealing with emotional distress, mental health crises, self-harm, suicidal ideation, general well-being issues, and the need for a non-judgmental space to share their feelings. About youYou will have experience of working with Mental service users and will be able to inspire and engage people and have the ability to identify barriers and understand client needs, while possessing excellent motivational skills. This will include one to one engagement and facilitating group-based activities, sign posting and engaging people in mainstream provision.You will have an understanding of working with people with a variety of complex needs including mental health, learning, physical and substance misuse would be an advantage for this post. Your knowledge of working within a community-based service is essential and will have equipped you with the relevant communication and interpersonal skills required for the role. Driving is not essential but access to transport could be essential.It is essential that you hold a Health and Social Care level 2 or level 3 and be willing to develop further as the role requires.This role is suitable for people wanting to build their experience of working with people experiencing mental health difficulties and will provide learning opportunities to support your development.
