Croydon Youth Justice Service

Do you have an interest in working with young people who have come to the attention of the Youth Justice System?Would you like to support them to make changes in their behaviour so that they desist from further offending?

Croydon Youth Justice Service (YJS) are looking for volunteers who have an interest in working with young people, both individuallyand within a group setting, to complete interventions.

The interventions include reparation, which support young people to make amends to their victims either directly or indirectly.This is normally done by completing tasks which would benefit the individual or the community.These sessions are facilitated by the YJS Intervention Worker or another member of the Croydon YJS.

Volunteers would also support the YJS Interventions Worker with group work sessions which address the young person’s offending behaviour.Topics include knife crime and the impact of crime on victims.The work that is undertaken with young people may also lead to volunteers supporting individuals in response to specific identified needs.

Full training will be given to all volunteers.

Required Skills

You should have good engagement skills and have a non-judgemental attitude. You will be a positive role model who will encourage pro-social behaviour with the young people Experience of working with young people is desirable, but not essential.
