Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Lead Youth Justice Specialist to join a collaborative team within the Youth Offending Service. The primary aim is to reduce youth offending by actively contributing to the following objectives:

Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in restorative practices and assist in the formulation and execution of Court Orders and Interventions in compliance with the criminal courts' mandates (Sentencing Act 2000) as amended.
- Provide support to young individuals who are remanded on bail, in Local Authority accommodation, secure settings, or custody, prior to their court sentencing.
- Compile comprehensive reports for the Court and Youth Offender Panels in line with National Standards for young offenders appearing before the Youth/Crown Court. Flexibility in working hours, including evenings and occasional weekends, may be required to meet the demands of the Youth Offending Service.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Recent experience in direct engagement with young individuals involved in the Criminal Justice system and their families.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with young people, their families, and other professionals.
- Experience working within a multicultural environment.
- A relevant qualification in a field related to youth work or substantial recent experience in direct engagement with young individuals and their families within the criminal justice framework.
- In-depth knowledge of current practices and service development issues concerning youth offenders and their families.
- Competence in conducting informed, analytical, and personalized assessments of young offenders (ASSET Plus/ Triage assessment) in a non-discriminatory manner.
- Capability to negotiate, develop, and implement suitable plans based on assessed desistance factors, risks, and needs of young individuals, victims, and local communities, while considering diversity issues.
- Significant relevant experience working directly with young people in the Youth Justice sector or associated partner agencies, such as Police, Social Services, Education, Probation, Health, or relevant voluntary sector organizations (grade 11).
