Role Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable Lead Youth Justice Specialist to join a collaborative multi-agency team within the Youth Offending Service. The primary aim is to reduce youth offending by actively contributing to the following goals:

Key Responsibilities
- Engage in restorative practices and assist in the formulation and execution of Court Orders and Interventions, adhering to the legal framework established by the criminal courts (Sentencing Act 2000) as amended.
- Provide support to young individuals who are on remand, whether on bail, in Local Authority accommodation, secure settings, or custody, prior to their court sentencing.
- Prepare comprehensive reports for the Court and Youth Offender Panels in line with National Standards for young offenders appearing before the Youth/Crown Court. Flexibility in working hours may be required to meet the demands of the Youth Offending Service, including evening and occasional weekend work.

Qualifications and Experience
- Recent experience in direct engagement with young individuals involved in the Criminal Justice system and their families.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with young people, their families, and other professionals.
- Experience working within a multi-cultural environment.
- A relevant qualification in a field related to youth work or substantial recent experience in direct engagement with young people and their families within the criminal justice framework.
- Knowledge of contemporary practices and service development issues concerning youth offenders and their families.
- Proficient in conducting informed, analytical, and personalized assessments of young offenders (ASSET Plus/Triage assessment) in a non-discriminatory manner.
- Skilled in negotiating, developing, and implementing tailored plans based on assessed desistance factors, risks, and needs of young individuals, victims, and local communities, while considering diversity issues.
- Significant relevant experience working directly with youth in the Youth Justice sector or related partner agencies, such as Police, Social Services, Education, Probation, Health, or relevant voluntary sector organizations (grade 11).
