Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a physiotherapist or occupation therapist with a research interest to help support some on-going research studies both in the community and hospital sites as part of the CCAG Research Centre.

• The post holder will work as part of the Research Centre team managing and coordinating clinical research projects and other research studies where appropriate. This post holder may take a Principal Investigator role on specific research studies.

• As part of the team this post holder will assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care for patients in line with research protocols.

• The post holder will work as part of the CCAG Research Centre team. They will be responsible for attaining recruitment targets and implementing strategies to meet these ensuring that research safeguards are in place to protect the well-being of research subjects and that research is conducted within Good Clinical Practice Guidelines.

• As part of the co-ordination responsibilities the post holder may be expected to represent the Directorate and Trust at local and national meetings.

• Responsible for supervising and developing research staff and students.

• Contribute to the operational management and development of the research therapist role.

The CCAG Research Team comprises of clinical researchers, research coordinators, a PPIE coordinator and administrators carrying out research in both acute and community settings. We have close links with The Sheffield NIHR Clinical Research Facility and use of the facility is available to all clinical researchers, providing a specialist environment for the conduct of high-quality clinical research.

Whilst the post holder will work within the CCAG Research Centre they will also be provided with robust professional leadership and mentorship support.

Whilst the post holder will work within the CCAG Research Centre professional leadership and mentorship support will be provided by the Head of Physiotherapy or Head of Occupational Therapy.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria

• Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registered Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist

• BSc (Hons) Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist or equivalent qualification

Desirable criteria

• Postgraduate qualifications or MSc level study relevant to post

• Evidence of training in a specialist area

Experience

Essential criteria

• NHS therapy experience relevant to post

Desirable criteria

• Experience of undertaking research, audit, or service improvement

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria

• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

• Ability to produce clear, accurate, and contemporaneous patient records and timely correspondence

• Able to provide high levels of therapy care autonomously

• Able to work effectively alone and as part of a team

• History of Continuing Professional Development

• Understanding of the therapist’s role within the NHS in community and acute settings

• Valid UK driving licence and access to vehicle with the ability to obtain business insurance

• Computer literate

• Knowledge of SystmOne or other patient record systems
