About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary community Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).

Main Responsibilities

  • To work within the CAMHS service providing specialist assessment and treatment to children and adolescents with complex mental health needs.
  • To contribute to the development and implementation of CAMHS policies and procedures.
  • To participate in the education and training of junior medical staff, nurses, psychologists, and other professionals within CAMHS.
  • To engage in the development of research and audit initiatives within CAMHS.

About Our Team

The CAMHS service in Swansea Bay works closely with community paediatrics and adult mental health services, as well as local authority partners Swansea and Neath Port Talbot. We also link closely with the Early Intervention Psychosis team and the Neurodevelopmental Service.

Person Specification

  • Registered with the GMC and licensed to practice.
  • On Specialist Register with GMC as a specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or eligible for CCT within 6 months of date of interview.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, relatives, and staff.
  • Ability to undertake on-call and work under pressure.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and a positive attitude towards learning and development.
