Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Cellular Pathology Specialist to join our team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our pathology department, you will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive histopathology service.

This is a full-time, permanent position based at Royal Preston Hospital, with a working week from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. You will not be required to provide on-call services for this post.

The successful applicant will work collaboratively with other consultants and staff to develop specialist interests that complement our existing cancer services.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating administrative arrangements in the laboratory with other members of the Pathology Directorate.
  • Attending Board meetings and committees to discuss pathology issues and participate in resource management.
  • Continuing management responsibility for the Cellular Pathology Department, including administrative duties and ensuring the proper functioning of the department.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Full and specialist registration with the GMC, or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
  • A Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview (if UK-trained).
  • Evidence of academic excellence in Pathology.
  • An interest in other specialist areas, including Dermatopathology and Oral/Head and Neck pathology.
  • Evidence of commitment to audit and improving clinical practice/service development.
  • Evidence of developing new diagnostic services.
  • Residency within 30 minutes' travel time to Preston.
  • A car owner/driver.

The salary for this position is estimated to be £105,504 - £139,882 per annum, depending on your experience and qualifications.
